 GORDON RUPERT DICKSON (1923 - 2001) - kanadyjski pisarz, w Polsce dobrze znany z powieści z serii "Smok i Jerzy", poza tym autor licznych dzieł Science Fiction.
Pierwszy odbiór "Smoka i Jerzego" może być dość negatywny dla miłośników fantasy w stylu Tolkiena. Najbardziej razi niepoważne traktowanie "fantastyczności" opisywanego świata, bądź co bądź, fantastycznego. Nazywanie poziomu Maga literkami, w stylu C, B+ czy AAA+ łatwo uznać za żałosny zabieg. Jeśli jednak potraktować podobne "elementy świata" z przymrużeniem oka, można dostrzec liczne zalety powieści. Przede wszystkim zaletą jest zadziwiająco realistyczne podejście do świata średniowiecznej Anglii i rycerstwa, a oprócz tego ciekawa atmosfera i dowcip.
